  3. (sea cows). Manatees are found on the eastern
  4. coasts of tropical North and South America,
  5. and around West Africa. They are in danger of
  6. becoming extinct. Manatees occur in fresh and
  7. sea water. Their forelimbs are flippers;
  8. their hindlimbs are absent, but they have a
  9. short, rounded and flattened tail which is
  10. used for propulsion.
